In this 41st episode, Facing Justice reports, summaries and analyses the second week of ‘Closing Statements’. This episode covers the last part of the Prosecution’s closing statements, which included a compelling sentencing request from the OCP to put the two Accused behind bars for life. Episode 41 also cover the Closing Statements by Nuon Chea and Khieu Samphan’s Defense Teams, who rebutted the Prosecution’s Closing Statements by raising points that included government interference towards the court and the weaknesses of the evidence against their clients. The Defense Teams for example highlighted issues such as the Prosecution’s use of materials that are irrelevant to Case 002/01, hearsay and inconsistent testimonies, and misleading use of evidence that does not take into account the whole context of Cambodia before, during, and after Democratic Kampuchea period.
